Publication Ethics of Research of Environmental Sciences

Keeping the high ethic consciousness and publication ethics is crucial for every participator in processes of academic research, paper writing and publishing. It is crucial for all parties involved in publishing a peer-reviewed journal: authors, journal editors, reviewers and publishers to achieve the expected ethical standards. Research of Environmental Sciences has formulated the following publication ethics guidelines in light of its own actual situation.


1. Ethical guidelines for Authors

We expect all authors submitting to Research of Environmental Sciences to adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

1.1 Reporting standards

1.1.1 Submissions must be original works, the contributions and its key elements should have never been published before; No plagiarism, the bibliography information should be clearly annotated in the references; The data should be true, non-deceptive, and no fudging or plagiarism as well as other academic misconduct action.

1.1.2 Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior, and it is unacceptable.

1.1.3 The bibliography information should be clearly annotated in the references. Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient details and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

1.1.4 All authors should be contributors to the work; There’s no dispute in the author order, the correspondence author should ensure that the publication of her/his paper is authorized by the other authors; Alteration of the author order before publication should be consented by all authors to ensure the accuracy of all authors’ rights.

1.1.5 With respect to conflicts of interest, authors should declare any conflicts of interest that relate to papers accepted for publication in our journal.

1.1.6 The advice and information in Research of Environmental Sciences are believed to be true and accurate on the date of its publication, neither the editors, nor the publishers shall accept any legal responsibility for any errors or omissions that may be made.

1.2 Hazards and human or animal subjects

1.2.1 If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

1.2.2 If the work involves the use of animal or human subjects, the author should ensure that the manuscript contains a statement that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines and that the appropriate institutional committee(s) has approved them.

1.2.3 Authors should include a statement in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed.

1.3 Use of patient images or case details

1.3.1 Studies on patients or volunteers require ethics committee approval and informed consent, which should be documented in the paper.

1.3.2 Appropriate consents, permissions and releases must be obtained where an author wishes to include case details or other personal information or images of patients and any other individuals.

1.3.3 Written consents must be retained by the author and copies of the consents or evidence that such consents have been obtained must be provided to the editorial office on request.

1.3.4 Particular care should be taken with obtaining consent where children are concerned (in particular where a child has special needs or learning disabilities), where an individual's head or face appears, or where reference is made to an individual's name or other personal details.

2. Ethical guidelines for Reviewers

2.1 Single-blind peer review processes are conducted for reviewing manuscripts.

2.2 Reviewers must have no conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authors and/or research funders.

2.3 Reviewers must give unbiased consideration to each manuscript submitted for consideration for publication, and should judge each on its merits, without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the author(s).

2.4 Comments should be objective and fair, definitive opinions on the academic value and whether the paper can meet the publication standards should be given, avoiding ambiguous comments.

2.5 The reviewed manuscripts should be treated confidentially. Reviewers must not disclose any research content of an unpublished manuscript.

3. Ethical guidelines for Editor

3.1 Editors must ensure that each manuscript received by Research of Environmental Sciences is reviewed for its intellectual content without regard to gender, race, religion, citizenship, etc. of the authors.

3.2 Editors must ensure that all the information of the received papers should not be disclosed.

3.3 Editors should follow the objective and requirements of the journal, process manuscripts objectively and fairly, and choose excellent articles that are up to the requirements of the journal for publication.

3.4 Editors should not allow any conflicts of interest between staff, authors and reviewers.

3.5 Once a published paper is confirmed academic misconduct, editors are obligated to withdraw the paper and delete the data in the relevant database, in order to minimize the harmful influence.
