Abstract:
The recoverability of ferrous(Fe) and non-ferrous(Al and Cu) metals from municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash(MSWIBA) was investigated based on speciation analysis of metals in MSWIBA, and metal recovery was tested using a pilot production line equipped with magnetic and eddy current separators. The results showed that the productivities of ferrous and non-ferrous metal products were 12.3% and 1.14% respectively. Moreover, the recovery ratio of Fe was 14.8% on a basis of the total MSWIBA, and the recovery ratios of Al and Cu were 73.1% and 52.7% respectively on a basis of >5 mm MSWIBA.Fe recovery from MSWIBA was limited by its speciation, while Cu recovery was limited by its distribution characteristics. It was suggested that the metal recovery could be improved by several methods, such as the adjustment of the mechanical parameters, enlargement of magnetic density, decrease of moisture content in MSWIBA, and so on.
