Abstract:
Under the background of ecological civilization construction, industrial integration represented by culture and tourism integration has become an important path to promote comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development. This study used the entropy weight-TOPSIS and Super-SBM model based on undesirable output to measure the level of culture and tourism integration and carbon emission performance at the province level (excluding the data of Xizang Autonomous Region, Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan) in China from 2010 to 2021 in this study. Meanwhile, the dynamic SYS-GMM model, mediating effect model, and spatial Durbin model were comprehensively applied to explore the influencing mechanism and spatial spillover effect. The study shows that: (1) For every 1% increase in the level of culture and tourism integration, carbon emission performance will increase by 0.019%. In other words, the culture and tourism integration helps to improve the carbon emission performance. (2) The influencing paths of culture and tourism on carbon emission performance are rationalization, advancement, and efficiency of industrial structure, respectively. (3) The negative spatial spillover effect of culture and tourism integration significantly inhibit carbon emission performance in adjacent regions. This study finds that culture and tourism integration can directly and indirectly improve local carbon emission performance, but has negative spatial spillover effect on carbon emission performance in the adjacent regions.
