Abstract: Marine ecotoxicological study has been paid more and more attention to and made great progress in China since late 1970s. Research work on the effects of different pollutants to various marine organisms has been performed. The studies of biological process mainly focused on the accumulation and elimination, the transfer and potential magnification, as well as the transformation and degradation of pollutants. The effects of pollutants on marine organisms were the most interesting area for Chinese researchers, especially in the area of acute toxicity, chronic toxicity, deformation and mutagenesis of organisms stressed by pollutants. Some studies also covered intoxication and detoxification mechanisms of pollutants in the affected marine organisms.
