Abstract: The field experiment was conducted to examine the effects of sludge compost applied to green area on the environment. The results show that increased presence of nitrates in the surface runoff or infiltration of first importance as a factor of pollution. But it would not cause insignificant adverse effect of an application of sludge compost of a rate within the range of 50t/hm². The heavy metals and organic contaminants in sludge compost from the Jizhuangzi sewage treatment plant did not cause insignificant adverse effect on surface runoff and infiltrates.
