Abstract: The authors make a survey-based assessment on the Chinese Technical Policy for Environmental Protection (CTPEP) in terms of policy performance, implementation effectiveness and obstacles involved in since the CTPEP has been carried out for ten years. This assessment shows that the CTPEP has contributed a lot to cleaning pollution and reducing ecological degradation. But it is urgent to design and implement a new technical policy for environmental protection towards 21st century in line with the sustainable development and new policy goals for environmental protection in China.
