Abstract: The effects of SO₂ on plant metabolism were summarized in terms of photosynthesis, respiration and nutrient material metabolism. The effects of SO₂ on plant photosynthesis and respiration were elaborated and the reasons and ways of plant photosynthesis changes resulted from SO₂ were analyzed; the effects of SO₂ on nutrient material metabolism such as sugar, amino acid and protein were also summarized.
