Abstract:
Effects of two dust storms respectively in March 15~19 and March 21~23 on atmospheric aerosol concentrations are analyzed based on TSP,PM
10 and size segregated aerosol concentrations obtained in the spring of 2002 in Qingdao.During the two dust storms,TSP mass concentration in Qingdao was 0.488 mg/m\+3 and 0.721 mg/m\+3,being 2.8 and 4.1 times more than normal weather. The 2~7 μm aerosols are main dust aerosol coming to Qingdao from northern dust source region.During the second dust storm, mass concentrations of particulates in the size range of 2~7 μm increased to 30 times, with mass concentration of 2.1~3.3 μm particulates as high as 0.13 mg/m\+3.Continuous observation of PM
10 concentration and the surface meteorology data show that dust was transported to Qingdao city by upper air before the surface wind turned to north.
