Abstract: Based on the request analysis of environmental quality for well-off society, representative indicators of quality status of typical environmental elements should be set for the well-off society environmental indicators were proposed. The comprehensiveness, simplicity, measurability, equitableness and continuity of the common indicators were evaluated, and the primary scheme of well-off society’s environmental indicators was established, including rate of population living in the region with the air environmental quality up to Level Ⅱ standard, rate of national river cross-sections up to the standards for water environmental functional areas, vegetation coverage rate, and rate of agricultural soil up to Level Ⅱ standard for national soil environmental quality, etc. respectively for the four environmental elements of water, air, soil and biology, in combination with social development and environmental evolution trends.
