Abstract: The Shenzhen River was badly polluted with the water quality exceeding Level Ⅴ of National Surface Water Standard. Aiming at this situation and based on analysis of pollution mechanism in the Shenzhen River, the water pollution control strategy for the Shenzhen River was preliminarily discussed from technical viewpoint, which combines successful experience on river pollution control all over the world with the characteristics of the Shenzhen River. The results show that the water quality of the Shenzhen River can be improved and thus satisfies with the requirements of urban landscape water use after sewage intercepting, sludge removing, water supplying and settling dam in the branch river mouth.
