Abstract: Using the data from 1980’s to 1990’s,current status of the forest in mid-eastern China was analysed.The results show that the forest resource in mid-eastern China is rich and the forest coverage is increasing obviously.However,the distribution of the forest is uneven,the per capita occupancy volume is low,the structure is unreasonable,and the ecological function is degrading.For this reason,in mid-eastern China,while continuously raising the area of forestland,the protection of natural forests should be further strengthened and forest quality improved continuously.In the respect of forest management,combination of protection and utilization,management by classifications and administration by areas should be highlighted.
