Abstract:
Toluene was selected as the target compound to study the influence of nutrient solution intermittent spraying on the biological trickling filter. The FX1N-14MR-001Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) was used to control the intermittent nutrient spraying pattern on the biotrickling filters. The operation conditions including ambient temperature, concentration of total nitrogen, spraying density, spray/stop time and mechanism of the intermittent spraying biological trickling filter was studied. When gas residence time was set as 40.70s, the results showed that the optimum condition was controlled at the spraying density of 4.5L/(m
2·min) and the spray/stop time of 2min/4min. When the toluene inlet loading rate was less than 88.29g/(m
3·h), the removal efficiency was higher than 95.0%. While the toluene inlet loading rate was 186.04g/(m
3·h), the removal efficiency was about 87.6%;the maximum elimination capacity of toluene increased from 169.63g/(m
3·h) to 248.85g/(m
3·h) compared with continuous spraying pattern.
